A example of an exquisite 18th century English Apron. Though traditionally fashions began among the socially elite, in the age of enlightenment, a number of fashions, truly utilitarian in nature became purely decorative. In the 1720s and 1730s, silk aprons were lavishly embroidered, with gold threads and silken representations of the most popular flora.
